Who is a small studio?
We’re a collection of creatives using our gifts to bring peace to people’s lives.
Since a small studio’s first days in 2017, this has been the unchanging piece in our approach to design and relationships.
What started as a branding studio in Seattle, in a physical space no less, with founders Troy and John, has turned into an identity-driven product & visual identity design studio that has embraced the virtual world and all its perks - hello world!
Our first few years specializing in brand identity helped us realize how integral it is for us to understand our clients’ reasoning and mission to make our best work. This notion took on a life of its own in the form of Identity Architecture, which we descibe as the practice of deconstructing identity to reveal perspectives that foster authentic engagement. It’s always played a role in our process, but has now become the first phase of a larger Identity-driven framework we experimented with, refined and currently use with all of our incredible clients. Now this foundational phase sets us up for more than just brand design, it kicks off the application of these findings in the design of digital systems and experiences that empower and bring our clients’ that peace.
To allow this framework to do what it’s designed to do, we embrace our size. Small is intimate and it’s led to the casual communication, unfiltered collaboration and playful candidness that’s exposed bits and pieces of identity we wouldn’t want to miss.
So here we sit, 5 years later, a collection of 6 spread out in the US, Canada and Australia, still using our gifts, still trying to bring peace to people’s lives in new, inventive ways.
